Valid passport should have a remaining validity of at least six months as of the date of entry.
PH passport holders can stay in Hong Kong for 14 days visa-free. No visa needed if you will stay no longer than 14 days.
There are lots of good areas to choose from but I personally recommend staying in Tsim Sha Tsui or Mongkok area due to their accessibility to most tourist destinations, proximity to food and shopping establishments, and reasonable hotel options.
Below are some of my recommendations if you're looking for hotels with convenient locations, good overall experience, and relatively acceptable room rates.
What I like about this hotel:
โ very near TST shopping area
โ spacious rooms
โ near a bus stop
I love Park Hotel! It's a little more expensive pero it's in TST and very near most places na gusto namin pinupuntahan. You can walk to Harbour City, K11 Musea, and other tourist attractions. The room is also very spacious vs other hotels in the same price point.
What I like about this hotel:
โ very near Yau Ma Tei station
โ secure elevator with key card
โ near restaurants
Rooms are a little small but can fit 2 people (I think perfect ito pag solo). No bidet as most HK hotels but the location is just very good -- a few steps to Yau Ma Tei train station, and near restaurants & convenience stores!
Most places are accessible via public transportation like trains and buses. To pay for your fare, you can purchase single ride tickets but I highly recommend getting an Octopus Card which is a reloadable card that you can top up to pay for transportation fares and even for goods and services in select establishments.
There are two types of Tourist Octopus Cards -- for adult and for children (which provides discounted rates on public transportation).
I recommend any of these two options when commuting from the airport going to the Hong Kong city center or to the areas of Tsim Sha Tsui and Mongkok.
You can ride the HK Airport Express train which connects the airport to the HK city center. This option is the fastest way to get to the city at less than only 30 minutes.
Choose this option if you prefer:
โ a fast way to commute between the airport and the city
โ more convenient seats and ample space for luggage
โ short walk from the airport arrivals hall to the airport station
To go to Mongkok or TST, ride the Airport Express until the Hong Kong Station, then ride the red train line to Yau Ma Tei or Tsim Sha Tsui station.
๐ You can book your HK Airport Express tickets here, or you can also use your Octopus Card or Visa debit/credit card to pay for your fare.
This is the cheapest way to commute from the airport going to TST or Mongkok. However, it may be a little inconvenient depending on the time (no guarantee that you can sit or if you'll have enough space for your luggage).
Choose this option if you prefer:
โ riding the bus vs trains
โ the cheapest way to commute to/from the airport
To go to Mongkok or TST, ride the A21 bus from the airport bus terminus and check which bus stop is nearst to your hotel.
๐ You can use your Octopus Card or Visa debit/credit card to pay for your fare.
This is a must-try especially if it's your first time in Hong Kong! By visiting Victoria Peak, you can already go to multiple tourist attractions and enjoy a stunning view of HK.
๐ The Peak Tram for a unique transportation experience going up Victoria Peak
๐ Sky Terrace 428 for the awesome view of Hong Kong from a high vantage point
๐ Madame Tussauds for the life-like wax figures of famous personalities
๐ There is a ticket bundle for The Peak Tram + Sky Terrace 428 which you can book here.
๐ Tickets for Madame Tussauds can be booked separately here.
If you want a good cable car experience in Hong Kong, then you should not miss heading to Ngong Ping 360 and riding the cable car (crystal cabin if you can!).
๐ Ngong Ping Cable Car for a nice view of HK from Lantau Island
๐ Ngong Ping Village for foodtrip and shopping
๐ Tian Tan Buddha for a majestic view
The cable car lower terminal is just right in front of Citygate Outlets so you can even do more shopping after your Ngong Ping 360 visit.
I know there are lots of eggtart options in HK but I still prefer Bakehouse's sourdough egg tart!
Line up early as this gets sold out later in the day.
I swear this is the best peking duck that I tried in HK. It's a little pricey but the quality is just really good!
We always visit this place everytime in Hong Kong because of their delicious pan fried buns.
I suggest getting the original flavor first!
Must-try for traditional HK breakfast!
I love the macaroni with fried Ma Ling blocks, paired with toast and milk tea.
